Between the Platinum Event Solutions team we have over 350 years of travel and event experience and have travelled to over 45 countries. However, the world is always changing so we ensure all our team are constantly broadening their product knowledge and are on the look-out for interesting destinations and venues.



Michelle Sargent - General Manager

Michelle heads up Platinum Event Solutions team and brings a wealth of experience in the Industry.

With over 20 years of group conference and incentive event experience Michelle has excelled in senior roles for leading Australian hotels, theme parks and conference venues. Michelle has established an extensive network of industry contacts and her passion for events and emphasis on building strong and respectful relationships between staff, clients, and suppliers, should assure our continued success and growth.

Rachel McCarthy - Director

Rachel has over 19 years experience in the Travel and Hotel industry. Having worked in various cities around Australia in a number of key hotel positions, has given Rachel the know-how in negotiating the best possible rates with hotels and conference suppliers.

Rachel’s attention to detail and “can do attitude” is a major factor in the success and the ongoing growth of the company.

Greg McCarthy - Managing Director

With over 30 years’ experience in the industry, Greg McCarthy is responsible for the overall direction of the company. Starting with a marketing cadetship and an eight years run with Qantas, Greg launched the first privately owned business Travel Company in Brisbane which he managed for the next ten years.

In 2000 Greg’s business was acquired by Business Travel International (BTI) known now as the global travel company HRG Australia. He went on to spend five years working as an Executive Director prior to moving back to NSW.

Through Greg’s extensive experience in airline negotiation, the company offers a strong platform for client savings across our network of offices around Australia.

Craig Walter - Director 

With a background in international hotel management and the Conference and Incentive markets, Craig supports the team to provide the best experiences that reward, explore, learn and inspire.

Craig enjoys travelling the globe looking for new experiences, destinations and suppliers.

Talynn Markarian - Senior Event and Conference Manager

Talynn has a wealth of travel experience especially with groups and incentives and has travelled the world many times over. Talynn started in the travel industry in 1999 with Kintetsu Travel and many years with Carlson Wagonlit Travel.

Favourite Destinations: France and Italy




Louise Mc Kew - Team Leader

With over 20 years in the travel industry, Louise is Platinum's group and incentive travel specialist. Louise has travelled to many destinations over the years with Europe, South East Asia and the USA being particular favourites. Louise began her career in travel with ATS Pacific inbound then moved to Carlson Wagonlit Travel. Louise brings with her a wealth of destinational knowledge and travel industry expertise to our company.

Sofie van Overmeir - Team Leader

Sofie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Event Management and has over 10 years’ experience in the events industry.

She began her career in the Hospitality industry before moving to a Sydney based event company managing a range of events from small outdoor functions to large scale sports fundraising events and music festivals.

Since 2012, Sofie has found her passion in managing both large domestic and international conferences in the South Pacific, Asia, America and Europe. Sofie’s in depth knowledge of the events industry, her keen eye and attention to the smallest detail ensures every client is provided with VIP service and event solutions which are expertly tailored to their own unique needs.

Emily Spiteri - Event and Conference Manager

With a Bachelor of Management in Sport and Exercise Science with a Sub Major in Event Management Emily joined Platinum in 2014 and has already organised many events through out Australia and abroad.

Emily has an excellent customer ethos with a welcome smile!
